Compact Computed Tomograph for Small Components

31.05.10 - Compact Computed Tomograph for Small Components

Computertomograph exaCT® S

Following the successful introduction of the world's first computed tomograph workstation on the Control 2009, WENZEL Volumetrik brings another to the market, a compact computed tomography solution which is a desktop version which is able to scan small components for measurement and test engineering tasks. "A small unit for small components at an affordable price is the motto here," said Dr. Martin Simon, Managing Director of WENZEL Volumetrik. "For demanding measurements of complex, small components were previously only large and expensive devices available. With our desk-top CT exaCT® S we have closed this gap and can now provide affordable volume measurement solutions even for small business."

The exaCT® S is ideal for companies working with parts in plastic, composites, ceramics, light metals or steel and who need a non-destructive and time-saving measuring solution. So the desktop CT exaCT® S covers a wide range of applica-tions. Even complex parts with internal or difficult structures can be measured with the new solution quickly and easily. With the exaCT® S, for example, micro-components could be scanned at a very high resolution. The applications for the new product reach from the micro-material testing to the micro-metrology.

The CT Desktop exaCT® S consistently meet customers requirements. It makes structures visible, which would be measured only with great time and financial expense in the traditional way. Due to the good price-performance ratio, the solution is interesting for small and medium-sized companies.

Special detectors developed by WENZEL Volumetrik in combination with the industrial metrology precision mechanics by WENZEL Group guarantees a very high accuracy and resolution. Another highlight is the powerful software package for control, reconstruction and data analysis. The PointMaster modules from ‘WENZEL Knotenpunkt’ which are integrated in the exaCT Control Analysis software package allow variance analysis, wall thickness analysis, reverse engineering and the com-pensation of shrinkage in injection mouldings. For dimensional measurement on CT data, the software Metrosoft QUARTIS from WENZEL Metromec is used. It allows analysis of shape, position and dimension as is usual with coordinate measuring machines but in addition also of internal structures.

With the new unit WENZEL Volumetrik continues the successful concept of different variants of the CT workstation. Thus, device components could be adapted to the specific requirements of the customer.
